5 Halloween party ideas!

It all started back in time,
when I first watched the Hocus Pocus movie.
It was impossible to avoid the excitement of getting dresed for a party
and having fun with your friends, while drinking cider and eating toffee covered apples.
And so, the idea was generated...

Let's have a Halloween party this year, I said to my friends, and everyone said YAS with one voice!

So, if you too are thinking of organising a Halloween party here are a few ideas to follow ::

1. Get your pumpkins game on! Buy a few pumpkins from your local market and place them around the house. Bonus if you remove the top and inside to create vases and bowls for popcorn!

2. Decorate with floral wreaths. Find treasures in the woods (acorns, pine cones etc) and make the best use of them :)

3. Toffee covered apples and popcorn! Yummy.

4. Bake a seasonal treat, this recipe is simply perfect!

5. Don't forget the costumes, because what is Halloween without a bit of dressing up?

Happy Halloween!

These pictures were taken in Volos,
a beautiful seaside city in the middle of the main Greek land.

Mood board // Fit Inspiration

Lately I feel quite lazy...
Blame it on the weather and the lack of sunshine.
it doesn't really matter...

I decided to try and eat more healthy and
work out more regularly following
my personal crossfit programme.

A little fit inspiration never hurt anyone,
so here's an autumn-ish fitspiration mood board!

Happy weekend!

Love

"The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life."

Mood board // Fall thoughts

all pictures via // edited by me

I know it's been ages since my last post here
but even though things have happened in my life the past time
(and I was always saying, oh my, I have to blog about this and that)
I never actually had the time to sit down and make a post!

So since my last post...
 ....I graduated from the University,
I got a new job
I made my hobby a part time job
I went on holidays with my sister
and also did a fair bit travelling with my boyfriend.

When did autumn arrive,
I have no idea!
Strangely enough though I like it :)

Autumn to me is a season to relax,
drink huge amounts of hot chocolate,
wear knitted layers
and take pictures of the brown-orange coloured alleys.

All these leaves in the streets,
all these colours in the sky..

...what best to come?

Mood board // This summer I want to...

Inspired by this post on the "10 things to do this summer" I decided to make summer list,
so here it goes.

This summer I would like to:
1. Travel to a place I have never been before
2. Taste a different bottle of wine (or two) every week
3. Read a book-and manage to finish it
4. Dance as much as possible
5. Laugh with every occasion-life is too short to take it seriously
6. Walk barefoot more often
7. Make colourful popcakes!
8. See some fireworks by the sea
9. Get a new camera....
10. ....and make a collage out of all my summer pictures

What are you planning to do this summer?

Lifestyle // Thoughts about being back home

It's a funny thing about coming back home.
Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same.
You'll realize what has changed is you.
-F.Scott Fitzgerald

It feels weird lately.
I am glad being back home,
being re-united with my beloved sister, parents and friends,
but at the same time I have a hidden sadness
buried in my heart.

Physically I am here,
but mentally I am in London.
I miss my life, my job and my friends there,
even though I have just been away for less than ten days!

I spent last night by the beach,
drinking red wine and listening to the sound of the waves,
while trying to find an answer to my feelings.

Fitzgerald's quote seems to be the answer to my questions so far,
it is not my family that has changed,
nor my house-everything is and feels the same.
It is me that has changed though,
I am not the same person anymore and living abroad has changed me
for the best or the worse.

Time flies quickly,
so I decided to make myself a favour and enjoy the rest of the week as much as possible,
before I have to fly back in London,
because then I will miss home and all my time here will be wasted,
Such an irony, isn't it?
Missing my home while being in my home away from home..

Do you ever feel the same?

Joanne

“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”

Mood board // White Thursday

all pictures taken via and edited by me

Life is moving forward and I feel like taking every step slowly.
Before starting this post I gave a good thought whether I should apologize or not for being away from the blogsphere for such a long time, but I was just not feeling into it.
I took the decision of writing when I feel like saying something or having something to post about.
Hope you will still be here for me :)
Enjoy today's mood board...
...white Thurday it is!

Burgundy is the ultimate colour
for winter and Christmas time.
I much prefer it to red, as I find it more classy and timeless.
Here's another inspirational board
and if you like it as much as I do
then why don't you get the look
by getting yourself (or friend)
a handmade burgundy beanie?

A Christmas watch story!

Once upon a time,
there was a little redhead girl,
living in the great city of London,
who loved watches!
She found their mechanism
the most fascinating thing in the world
and so decided to spend the rest of her life
creating the most beautiful watch ever!
She started collecting contacts, coils, stems and circuits
and kept them all in a secret box under her pillow.
Until one day
that her house
was caught into fires and she was forced to evacuate her room
so quick, that she didn't have the time to collect her box.
*   *   *
Months later,
just on time for Christmas she dreamed of Santa Claus,
asking her what would she like for Christmas.
my box , she whispered, that is all I want for Christmas...
*   *   *
On Christmas eve,
the city was covered into lights and
people were visiting the Christmas markets,
watching the pantomimes
and buying mulled wine.
It was the happiest day of the year!
The little girl slept
while listening to the carols tunes
and dreamed of her lost secret box.
The next day,
the city was white,
covered with a thick layer of snow,
but that was not the reason why the little girl was smiling.
Under the tree there were Christmas presents.
Boxes wrapped in colourful paper,
writing the name of the recipient on one side.
Her box was the tiniest one,
she exclaimed
my secret box!
Little did she know though..
When she opened her present,
her eyes lightened
and her smile was as wide as her face.
There in her tiny box,
was laying the most beautiful watch,
she had ever imagined!
A white, elegant watch,
even better than the one she was dreaming to make herself.
Santa Claus made her dream come true.
he didn't offer her the lost secret box,
but something way better,
the most beautiful watch ever made!

Some inspiration

If I may call myself the Londonian or Londonier,
then my sister is the Edinburghian
and is there a more beautiful city than it?
I have visited Edinburgh
once in the past
and was mesmerised
by the beautiful buildings
and landscapes.
Knowing that my sister,
is living there
it makes me want to travel
so badly.
One day soon...

Jovanna

P.S: Speaking of my sister
she runs two giveaways on her blog.
The one of them is for Topshop
so head over,
and try your luck
 it is worth it!

Inspiration of the Day

There are somedays,
like today,
where life keeps me so busy
that it feels like being
in a remote control.
Well if you feel like me,
then take a break,
grab a cup of tea
and start from the beginning!
Oh, and don't forget to breathe..
